Representing 26% of Queenslandโs land mass ๐ฒ, our electorates may have different challenges and goals demonstrated by the Bills introduced or debated ๐ฃ, however share many commonalities including lack of affordable housing ๐. It was fabulous to catch up with Commonwealth MP Mary Crawford ๐ฉโ๐ผ on the scholarships available through Graduate Women Queensland for women wishing to enter politics, with an invitation for me to โkeynoteโ in the new year ๐![]()

๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฉโโ๏ธ not decisions that are ad hoc and lacking appropriate consultation. The Making QLD Safer Bill ๐ bypassed scrutiny, with only 5 days for submissions which is unacceptable for amendments that go against all evidence. With youth offenders possibly facing sentences longer than their age, in a non-rehabilitative system as seen by the 90% recidivist rate, concerns came from all sectors including Voices for Victims. During the Youth Justice inquiry, Queenslanders told us they wanted repeat offenders to be removed to a secure setting that provided the best chance to rehabilitate, learn and work, reducing the possibility of reoffending, which these amendments do not address. With the current detention system proving ineffective, this is no way to keep communities safer. Despite some positives, including those identified in the YJ inquiry, ultimately, an election slogan has become policy ๐ฌ![]()

๐design changes to the temporary coffer dam which necessitate haulage of additional construction materials to site and change the hydrological and ecological impacts of the project.![]()
๐maintenance of the lake at 42 per cent of the full supply level (as opposed to the five per cent previously contemplated)![]()
๐construction activities conducted outside standard hours, including lake drawdown, spillway and dam crest demolition and concrete batching and pouring.![]()
