The following update, in italics, has been provided by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) regarding the construction of the Six Mile Creek Bridge replacement project:
Upcoming works:
- bridge site preparation following clearing and grubbing
- first stage of earthworks including striping topsoil, excavation, subgrade treatment and rock fill
- piling pads in place ready for installation of headstocks
- crane pads will be constructed towards the end of the month
- drainage works commence
Expected impacts:
- traffic controllers, automated traffic signals, reduced speed limits, road signage and variable
message signs will be in place to advise of the changed traffic conditions and to ensure motorist
and roadworker safety- motorists can expect delays when single lane closures and traffic management are implemented
in the work zone from mid-February- priority access through the work site will be given to emergency vehicles
- we expect higher truck movements with the earthworks. TMR will strive to balance impacts to the
community and motorists using the road network during these busier times. TMR is also
engaging with key stakeholders who utilise Kin Kin Road to coordinate the delivery of
construction materials- majority of works will be undertaken during the day from Monday to Saturday between 7am and
5pm.The approved species management plan will continue to be implemented to manage and mitigate any impacts to flora and fauna species as the project progresses through construction.
Every effort will be made to keep disruptions and noise to a minimum while the works are underway. TMR understands roadworks can be frustrating for nearby businesses, residents and road users and acknowledges the cooperation and patience of stakeholders during these activities. TMR will continue to provide updates to residents and stakeholders as construction progresses.
