Hi Sandy. At the Polkadot Tiny Houses 2 event you mentioned there was a parcel of land becoming available but you couldn’t disclose it for 2 weeks. Can you now release that information and what its zoned for?

Hi Darren. Brett here from Sandy’s office. Apologies for the delay as we have endured back to back Parliamentary weeks and now Sandy is in north QLD on Parliamentary Committee business this week. When she is ondeck next week I will follow up Sandy on this one. Regards
Thanks Brett

(Darren and Bettina) and apologies for the delay – have been using Easter to catch up on some backlog! There were a couple of pieces of land that I was referring to – one was an unallocated parcel held aside for possible road works in Tewantin that is no longer required for that purpose, one ‘out of town’ acreage held by a charity, and the other, a privately owned property on the urban fringe. All have restrictions and some difficulties which has led to exploring with Council the opportunities at Noosa Civic and the decommissioned TAFE site which has some areas that are already degraded and not under a biodiversity overlay.
I have also tracked the House With No Steps site at Doonan for 2 years, and met onsite with the Minister last month. As it is not in the Noosa electorate or Shire, I am currently working with Sunshine Coast Regional staff, Ninderry MP Dan Purdie and Cr Steve Robinson on this. Another large parcel of land on the urban fringes has potential as it appears to have less ‘issues’, which equates to less costs and an elongated time frame for our community housing providers to develop a sustainable project.
As you would be aware, each site brings its unique challenges and constrictions through safeguards which are essential, however can be frustrating in achieving affordability due to the extra costs involved. Once we identify the most suitable sites/s, I will certainly make those details available and update everyone as it would be fabulous to have input via a ‘roundtable’ to ensure the project is very ‘Noosa’.
