We have been advised by the Department of Transport and Main Roads that the Cooroy Bypass is not currently a priority for the Government and that no further network planning will take place until funding is allocated.
Advice from TMR
• The first bypass of the town of Cooroy, which now forms part of the Bruce Highway, opened in 1994.
• While planning and design was underway for the Bruce Highway bypass of Cooroy, the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) also considered a possible future bypass to the south of Cooroy between the roundabout on Cooroy Connection Road near the Bruce Highway and Cooroy–Noosa Road. However, planning for this proposal was not progressed.
• While TMR has undertaken long-term road network planning in the region, including possible new road links in the Cooroy town area, no detailed planning has been undertaken.
• More detailed network planning cannot take place until the allocation of funding.
