Our office continues to receive a large volume of requests for an Indigenous Ranger Program. Over the past 2 years I have met with representatives of our Gubbi Gubbi and yet, none of our young traditional custodians have come forward to express interest in participating in the program. We would love to have the next generation of river and land rangers engaged with local organisations to manage our land and waterways using a blend of contemporary and traditional methods. I shall continue my discussions with local organisations to develop a Ranger Program, in the hope that we can entice our Indigenous youngsters to come on board and share their traditional knowledge in so many realms.
