From February 2021, camp site bookings at Teewah Beach will change. The open camping area will be divided into seven separate camping zones, allowing campers to choose a zone to camp before arriving at the site as part of safety and improvement in management. The majority of the no camping areas are located at the southern end of Teewah Beach towards Noosa North Shore and for this reason zones 5, 6 and 7 are smaller zones with lower camper capacity to reduce overcrowding. The Teewah Cooloola Working Group resumed its meetings after the COVID hiatus and are currently working on any outstanding items from it’s recommendations of December 2019. The introduction of number plate recognition cameras, police access to a UAV and the soon to be mandated ‘porta potties’ has been a positive start to addressing the issues experienced by campers. Difficult ones remain including mobile black spot and day tripper numbers which have increased and creating further impacts through traffic congestion into Tewantin.

Further updates will be posted as they come to hand.
