Following the completion of the Expressions of Interest (EOI) process undertaken by Noosa Council and Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) for the Noosa River Stakeholder Advisory Committee, we can update the following.
The outcome of the EOI process was voted on by Noosa Council who have requested that MSQ amend the Terms of Reference to allow for 2 extra members on the Committee, bringing total membership to 14. In addition, Council asked that the two additional members be the 2 highest scoring shortlisted women to ensure better gender balance on the Committee.
Information has been updated on Council’s website at https://www.noosa.qld.gov.au/environment-waste/environment/rivers-creeks and any concerns regarding Noosa River can be emailed to nrsac@noosa.qld.gov.au.
If you would like to view those selected to join the committee you can find them published here. Once further updates are available, they will be posted to Noosa 360, as well via our weekly updates on the Sandy Bolton MP Facebook page.
Sandy. Griff here. I’ve just read Jarrett’s article on the NRSAC’s Ist meeting. We spoke previously on this matter.
If Jarrett’s article is correct, the 2 main points to come out of the meeting had to do with ‘liveaboards’ & speed limits.
Helping protect our riverbanks from erosion due to excessive speed limits is one thing, but liveaboards??? How are they threat to the river??? MSQ doesn’t even KNOW how many there are!!!
And then there’s a “warm glow” at HQ Noosa Coastguard? What a load of crap.
What about Kin Kin Creek? What about the herbicides and pesticides from local growers & graziers? What about erosion on the river’s side of Woods Bay? What about the rivermouth sandbar? What about river rats & thieves & criminal activity? WHAT ABOUT REMOVAL OF EXISTING DERELICT BOATS???? WHAT ABOUT COMMERCIAL FISHING LICENSES still existing re: our 2 lakes?
Or is this just about commercial operations along Gympie Tce. getting what they want…bloody ‘latte’ licenses and a jet -ski license that encroaches on the Noosa channel and promotes the image of Noosa as a playground for young hoons, both in the river & out in Laguna Bay.
I’m FUMING over this absolute B%^^#*!T!!!!
???????????????????? Griff
