Per our January 2024 Noosa 360 update, we were advised by the Queensland Minister for Education that approximately 300 more teachers and 230 more teacher aides have been allocated directly to schools. We enquired how many of those newly allocated teachers were assigned to Noosa State Electorate schools and were provided the following in response:
The allocated 20.63 FTE teachers and 14.19 FTE teacher aides were distributed in the Noosa Electorate as follows:
Centre Full Name
Teacher FTE Teacher Aide FTE 2023 2023 Cooran State School 0.43 0.32 Kin Kin State School 0.41 0.30 Noosa District State High School – Pomona Campus 2.39 1.66 Noosaville State School 2.35 1.57 Pomona State School 1.16 0.85 Sunshine Beach State High School 9.46 6.26 Sunshine Beach State School 2.14 1.56 Tewantin State School 2.29 1.67
All Teacher vacancies have been filled at these locations.
The new permanent teacher appointments are related to the ‘Temporary to Permanent Teachers’ conversion process undertaken during Term 4, 2023. This process facilitated employment security for the temporary teacher workforce.
Some Teacher Aide Hours are vacant due to the recent Teacher Aide Enterprise Bargaining commitments and associated activities. These vacant hours will be made available to existing permanent Teacher Aides for an opportunity to maximise their employment to 30 hours per week.
Sandy’s advocacy will continue for targeted resources including for Flexi Hubs as well any recommendations that emanate from the Youth Justice Reform Committee.
