As highlighted in Sandy’s budget reply speech, even though not in the Noosa State Electorate, the lack of progress on the Cooroy intersections is of concern to our office. Both Noosa and Nicklin State Electorate residents are at risk daily from these.

Per our April 2021 update, the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) previously investigated options of both roundabouts and traffic signals as part of early planning for upgrades in response to our advocacies. They identified traffic signals as the preferred option for safety, pedestrian access and to avoid private land resumptions, however at that time the community did not support this and favoured roundabouts.

In response to Sandy’s recent letter to the Minister for Transport and Main Roads, we have been advised no funding is currently allocated. In efforts to have these intersections made a priority for upgrading, please add your voices by writing to NCR_Planning_Comms@tmr.qld.gov.au. Whilst doing this, if you live within the Noosa State Electorate, please cc us via noosa@parliament.qld.gov.au or if you live in the Nicklin State Electorate, please cc Rob Skelton MP at nicklin@parliament.qld.gov.au.

If you are unsure which electorate you live in, you can search at www.ecq.qld.gov.au/electoral-boundaries/where-is-my-electorate. Once there has been some feedback, if required in conjunction with the Nicklin State MP, we shall request a community meeting for TMR to re-engage with the community on this.
