The following update regarding the widening works scheduled for Kin Kin Road has been provided by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) which is moving into the 2nd stage of 4 stages:
The second stage of works on approximately 150-metre section of Kin Kin Road is expected to start in August 2022, weather and construction scheduling permitting. Stage one works are continuing to progress and are still ongoing.
Please see the map overleaf for the location of stage two. The works will be undertaken in four stages.
We expect higher truck movements with the asphalt and earthworks. TMR will strive to balance impacts to the community and motorists using the road network during these busier times. TMR is also engaging with local school bus operators who utilise Kin Kin Road to coordinate the delivery of our materials.
Stage 2 works:
- vegetation clearing
- earthworks
- road widening
- culvert replacement
- asphalt works
- driveway access modifications within the stage one and stage two project area. Residents will be provided with advance notice of any intermittent property access restrictions.
Expected impacts:
- traffic controllers, automated traffic signals, reduced speed limits, road signage and variable message signs will be in place to advise of the changed traffic conditions and to ensure motorist
and roadworker safety- motorists can expect delays when single lane closures and traffic management are implemented in the work zone
- majority of works will be undertaken during the day from Monday to Friday between 6am and 6pm.
Every effort will be made to keep disruptions and noise to a minimum while the works are underway. TMR understands roadworks can be frustrating for nearby businesses, residents and road users and acknowledges the cooperation and patience of stakeholders during these activities. TMR will continue to update residents and stakeholders as construction progresses.
