Sandy has continually advocated for more and better health services for Noosa both through local health services and those in our local region. Sandy recently provided an update on the expansion of the Noosa Hospital, and following resident questions on what new services are now being provided via Nambour General Hospital, the Health Department has provided the following, which have been or are being implemented at the Nambour Hospital over the last year:

Additional services offered at Nambour Hospital in the previous 12 months:

  • Outpatient hysteroscopy
  • Outpatient Respiratory function testing clinic
  • Outpatient Paediatric Surgical clinic
  • Outpatient Immunology clinics
  • Outpatient rheumatology clinics
  • Multi-Disciplinary Breast care service
  • New and improved diagnostic breast surgical procedure
  • Additional Mental Health inpatient beds
  • Additional 12 bed spaces within the new and expanded Emergency Department, including dedicated paediatric ED space
  • New Cognitive Care beds within a medical ward

Capital improvement works completed at Nambour General Hospital (NGH) from July 2023 to August 2024 (last FY plus two additional months):

  • Refurbished Emergency Department, including Triage, waiting room, Resus, Fast Track, Acute and dedicated Paediatrics area
  • New patient entrance and drop off zone at the front of the new Emergency Department
  • Minor modification works to Medical Assessment Planning Unit and Short Term Treatment Area
  • Refurbished Acute Restorative Care inpatient ward next to the existing unit
  • Modification works to Mental Health Unit 2, creating additional single bedrooms
  • Refurbished staff dining room
  • Refurbished kitchen including dishwasher room with new equipment
  • Demolition completed of Block 1 (to create new patient entrance and drop off zone)
  • Potable water storage refurbishment and relining
  • 34 station Electric Vehicle charging facility with enhanced fire protection
  • HVAC Chiller replacement x 2
  • Fire indication panel upgrade (ongoing rolling program)
  • Building management system upgrade to Block 3
  • Operating theatre dehumidification to service the sterile stock storage at Nambour Operating Theatres
  • Security system upgrades
  • ICT refurbishment
  • Multi-denominational prayer facility to cater for all denominations
  • Grounds and gardens refurbishment and landscaping.
