Your Voice. Your Noosa.

As an Independent Member of the Queensland Parliament, I am honoured to represent the wonderful diversity that is Noosa, not a political party or personal ideology. This is liberating and empowering for the residents of our electorate and provides opportunity to create a future that you have envisioned. One that is bold in researching ideas and trialling new ways to address our challenges, through the development of partnerships and a focus on what unites. One that encourages open discussion and respectful debate which concentrates on common ground and what can be achieved. One that considers all viewpoints and perspectives, with objective research and a passion for people, that puts Noosa first.

I am your voice. It is your Noosa.

𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒, 𝐀𝐒 𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐋 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐒𝐎 👩‍⚖️ the first bill to be debated in the 58th Parliament was an ‘urgency’ one with multiple unrelated pieces of legislation that I would normally oppose as there was no community consultation nor scrutiny from a committee. However, it had a needed outcome for Noosa regarding State Facilitated Developments (SFDs) that was time critical with legislation to give power to the Planning Minister to revise or revoke applications. This allows our new government to keep their commitments made during the election, and I thank the Premier and Planning Minister for this, and for their reassurance going forward to work with Noosa Council in ensuring any applications or proposals do not contravene our local planning scheme. After a contentious journey since we opposed the original Bill facilitating the SFD pathway back in April, this is welcomed progress. There were other amendments which you can read about in my speech below which unfortunately I could not deliver due to a ‘bug’ including independence for the Olympics Authority and the Public Sector Commissioner. Now to the ‘not good’ part in this Bill, which was the repealing of the path to treaty process and Truth telling Inquiry. Such an important piece of legislation deserved a full process and consultation, with an alternate path provided allowing all stories to be heard, both indigenous and non 🙏As part of advocacies to take forward, this is included in our Annual Noosa MP survey open from 1 December, so please make sure to have your say by subscribing to our newsletter at www.SandyBolton.com/Newsletters to be notified when open👍 There were other bills introduced including changes to the youth justice laws which we will be posting further on after the next sitting. For anyone wishing to watch parliament live during sitting, head to www.parliament.qld.gov.au, which also has the notice papers and other information including the new portfolio committees.👉 www.sandybolton.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Brisbane-Olympic-and-Paralympic-Games-Arrangements...–-Sandy-Bolton-MP-for-Noosa.pdf ...
