𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐁𝐔𝐑𝐍 👨‍🚒 𝐓𝐄𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐊, 𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋 𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 – Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) have advised that they will be conducting a planned burn today Thursday 30 January at the site picture below, weather and conditions permitting. This, as part of their annual prescribed burn program for parks and forests, which aims to reduce the threat of severe wildfires in periods of very high fire danger and to help protect life, property and maintain a healthy forest. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁:👉QPWS crews will be onsite from 9:30am, with expected ignition at 10:00am.👉QPWS crews will be patrolling until safe. 👉Smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Cooroibah, Ringtail Creek, Cootharaba and Tewantin. 👉During the planned burn the area will be closed to public access.𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗱𝗼:👉Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalations. 👉Smoke can decrease visibility on roads, so it is important that motorists drive safely to the conditions. 👉Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas. With our 2024 survey 📃 showing community support for alternatives to nets during the whale migration season, it is important that the review findings be released so that Noosa can make a decision to pilot. 𝐍𝐎𝐎𝐒𝐀 𝐂𝐎𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐆𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐃 🛥 A visit from Flotilla Commander Lindsay and Deputy Commander Michael from Coast Guard Noosa QF5 rd is always welcomed as part of updates on the transition to Marine Rescue Queensland, happenings over the Christmas break and the success of the recently commissioned new addition ‘Bendigo Rescue’ thanks to Community Bank Sunshine Coast 🙏. 𝐒𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐘'𝐒 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊𝐋𝐘 '𝐖𝐑𝐀𝐏'– 𝟐𝟒 𝐉𝐀𝐍𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐘 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓A busy and very hot week jammed with meetings, including with reps from Queensland Ambulance Service and Noosa Coast Guard, as well a site visit where my learnings increased with the help of the ‘Tree of Wisdom’ and Jon Lewis below! 😀As well reading and collating the responses to our annual community survey which we will post up shortly. One of the main issues raised was around e-motorbikes, bikes and scooters, and we continue to advocate for the resources and laws to ensure our police have what they need to effectively address illegal, unacceptable and non-compliant behaviours. ♥ REST IN PEACE BEAU AND HONOR - We were all absolutely heartbroken with the loss of two beautiful young Noosans from a tragic incident at Wappa Falls last weekend. They will both forever be missed, and our hearts go out to their families and many, many friends at this incredibly sad time. 😢🚤NOOSA RIVER AND NORTH SHORE OPERATIONS – MSQ and QPS will be executing targeted daily operations over the Australia Day long weekend on the Noosa River and on our North Shore beaches and local roads, focusing on a number of areas such as seaworthiness, pollution, proper use of lifejackets, enforcing speed limits, and license checks.
