The Department of Transport & Main Roads has provided some information regarding the Sunshine Coast station upgrades as follows:

• Queensland Rail has invested more than $4 million to start platform upgrades on the Sunshine Coast line at Cooran, Pomona and Eumundi stations, to improve safety and customer amenity
• The project will see temporary timber platform extensions at the three sites upgraded with permanent structures
• The temporary platform extensions at these stations were installed in 2010 and have proven to be effective
• Permanent extended platforms will be installed from later this month
• Works have recently started at Cooran station and once complete Queensland Rail crews expect to start at Pomona station by late 2018, followed by Eumundi station in mid-2019
• Improvement works at Cooran, Pomona and Eumundi stations will include:
o installation of new permanent high level platforms with ramp access
o improvements to platform shelter, seating, lighting and CCTV
o new platform markings including tactile indicators, train stopping markers and assisted boarding location
• Minor access impacts at each station may occur during the works but each station would remain open throughout the projects to ensure continued service delivery
• A community information session will be held on Saturday, 1 September at Cooran
