In Sandy’s recent Noosa MP Community Survey, some residents expressed concerns regarding the reliability of Noosa’s power supply.
In response, we have received the following from the Queensland Minister for Energy:
There are six Energex zone substations that deliver supply to the State Electorate of Noosa – Black Mountain (BMT), Cooran (COR), Cooroy (CRY), Noosaville (NVL), Peregian (PGN) and Tewantin (TWT).
Energex is continually reviewing the performance of its distribution network and undertakes relevant reliability improvement works where opportunities are identified.
The following reliability improvement works are scheduled, which will result in improved network performance for customers residing in the Noosa Electorate.
11kV feeder Proposed Completion Date Work involves BMT5 30/06/24 Installing remote control devices to enable fault identification, isolation and improved restoration ability. Replacing open wire HV mains with covered conductor to minimise transient faults in treed areas. COR26A COR23A
30/06/24 Installing remote control devices to enable fault identification, isolation and improved restoration ability. Replacing open wire HV mains with covered conductor to minimise transient faults in treed areas. CRY2A 30/06/24 Installing remote control devices to enable fault identification, isolation and improved restoration ability. Replacing open wire HV mains with covered conductor to minimise transient faults in treed areas. CRY6A 30/09/25 Installing fuses and replacing manual switches with remote control devices to enable fault identification, isolation and improved restoration ability. Replacing open wire HV mains with covered conductor to minimise transient faults in treed areas.
