Following three years of advocacy, the State Government have allocated $18.9 million over the next 4 years to expand the program, ensuring that share care arrangements will be accommodated.

With the Family Court supporting and giving orders for shared care between parents for many years now, it was imperative that this scheme be updated to better support children living within these arrangements.

Previously a child could only access free school transport from one address and parents had to decide which parent would receive the assistance, regardless of whether this was a court decision or not.

We look forward to these changes being finalised and these children receiving 5 days or school transport assistance as other do other children.

Our advocacy continues for other improvements needed within STAS.
