Further to our update in November 2021, the designs for Six Mile Creek Bridge have now been finalised. The new bridge will be 3 metres higher than the existing structure and will be sturdier and wider with room for active transport, improving safety and traffic flow.
As well as a height increase, the bridge will include two 3.8 metre-wide lanes, as well a 2.5 metre shoulder on each side to create more space. The design also includes a new dedicated turning lane into Bellbird Flat Road and will realign sections of Kin Kin Road and the bridge approaches.
Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will now be appointing a construction contractor. Once underway, the works are expected to take 12 months to complete, weather and conditions permitting.
TMR will be providing us with further updates as they are made available, including the commencement dates and expected disruption, which we will post about on Noosa 360 and Facebook.
