The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) have provided the following information (in italics) in response to resident concerns regarding the impact of nightworks:
Regarding nightworks for Kin Kin Bridge #2 specifically: Due to the type of works required to replace selected components of the bridge, the bridge being single-lane, safety considerations and TMR’s efforts to minimise impacts to motorists and reduce extended traffic delays, it was necessary to undertake these works at night.
Wherever possible, TMR’s contractor will endeavor to complete the noisiest works earlier in the night. Furthermore, TMR strives to balance the need for carrying out works while limiting inconvenience to the local community where possible.
We understand night works can be frustrating and acknowledge there may be a level of fatigue within the Noosa hinterland community relating to ongoing works on Kin Kin Road. However, due to the very high level of community requests and enquiries we continue to receive, TMR is responding by investing heavily in Kin Kin Road.
Any residents living in close proximity to upcoming night works who may require alternate accommodation should contact our office on 5319 3100
