TMR’s Policy Planning and Investment (Corridor Management and Protection) team is undertaking a review of TMR’s existing Roadside Memorial Policy. The team has advised that there is no Federal legislation in reference to roadside memorials. A road may be identified as a national highway (for example, the Bruce Highway), however, the management responsibilities sit with the State, as if it was a state-controlled road.

The Federal Government is responsible for contributing funding towards the construction or upgrade of National highways. The policy review is considering how other States and government authorities manage roadside memorials. More news when available.
